This group offers care, friendship and support to people who have recently been bereaved. We meet fortnightly on Thursdays at 2pm in the Conference Room at Cox Green Community Centre.
We begin with drinks and cake and time to catch up with one another, and then spend some time chatting as a group. We are very relaxed and informal - there is no charge, although donations are welcome towards the cost of running the group. Occasionally we go out for lunch together instead of our usual meeting.
“Can’t wait to get here.”
“I
enjoy the lovely chats and the friendliness."
“If
anyone is sad at times, everyone understands.”
“We
give each other moral support.”
Newcomers are always welcome - please do come with a family member of friend if you wish.

Our church choir sings at regular Sunday morning services, at Festival Services, and at weddings. We are also invited to sing at other churches from time to time.
We have informal rehearsals in the Community Centre one Sunday a month and more frequently before Christmas and other special occasions. We sing both traditional and modern church music with equal enjoyment!
Everyone is welcome to join the choir - children from age 9 upwards and adults. No auditions are required, and you don't need to read music.

The vision of Open the Book is to ‘enable every child to hear the story of the Bible in their primary years’. This is done by teams of people going into school assemblies and using drama, mime, props and costumes to tell the Bible stories in a lively, accessible and enjoyable way with plenty of participation from the children. Reactions from both children and staff are generally very enthusiastic!
Volunteers from our church are involved in teams with people from other local churches. We visit Larchfield Primary School in our neighbouring parish as well as Wessex Primary School and Manor Green School in our parish. It is lovely to be able to work together with other churches and denominations on this project, and a wonderful opportunity to share the Bible with children.
Please pray for our Open the Book teams, and for the children and staff in the schools we visit. If you are interested in joining one of or teams please do or visit the Open The Book website. All volunteers need to comply with Safeguarding requirements and so need a valid DBS check obtained through their church.
